When you have chickens, keeping them safe is one of your most important responsibilities. As every chicken owner knows, it seems like just about everything considers chickens a meal.
Despite its name, **chicken wire** was designed to keep chickens **in** not to keep predators **out**. Raccoons, dogs, coyotes, foxes, and other predators can easily tear through or reach through chicken wire. Whenever I see a coop or run made only with chicken wire, I can't help but worry about how long those sweet chickens will be safe.
If you have backyard chickens, please protect your feathered friends by using **hardware cloth** instead of chicken wire. It's a much stronger barrier and can make all the difference in keeping your flock safe and secure. ❤️🐔
